A new Wagyu beef butcher shop and chef-driven burger restaurant is expanding to Pacific Beach. Last summer, chef Steve Brown opened his first Swagyu Chop Shop at 1002 Palm Avenue in Imperial Beach, along with another location in Poway. Now, Brown’s expansion continues in Pacific Beach, as he has officially secured the restaurant space of longtime brunch spot Isabel’s Cantina, where he will open the flagship branch of his Swagyu Burger & Chop Shop.

Prior to taking over the entire space, Brown operated a pop-up location of his butcher shop at the location. Slated to open as early as this June, the new burger joint and butcher shop will be split into two sections. One part will be a full-service burger restaurant, while the other will be the butcher shop and burger bar offering wine, sake, and beer (local and imported). Cuts of A5 Wagyu and other specialty meats will be offered at the butchery.

Meanwhile, the restaurant will offer a menu that includes Swagyu’s smashburger and nitro potatoes, katsu sandwiches, and cooked steaks that patrons can choose directly from the meat counter. To compliment the food offerings at Swagyu Burger & Chop Shop, the restaurant will serve beer, wine and specialty sake. When it opens, Swagyu Burger & Chop Shop can be found at 966 Felspar Street in San Diego’s Pacific Beach. For more info, check out https://swagyu.square.site/.
