Let the sparkles fly! Fireworks are back on across San Diego this year. Where will you watch them?

For the 4th of July, fireworks get hosted around the city, giving you and your family plenty of opportunities to enjoy a show and explore a new area. To help you plan your holiday weekend, we have compiled a list of the top locations to find 4th of July fireworks in San Diego.

  1. Port of San Diego – 9 pm

The Port of San Diego Big Bay Boom July 4th Fireworks Show is always an incredible and professional display. The light from the fireworks reflects off the water and buildings along the shore, adding to the experience. The Big Bay Boom is the biggest firework event in San Diego, and there are plenty of great spots to lay down your blanket and enjoy the show. The best areas to watch this show are Shelter Island, Harbor Island, North Embarcadero, Marina District, Seaport Village, and the Coronado Ferry Landing. Bring some snacks and enjoy a 17-minute beautifully choreographed show!

2. Sea World – 10 pm

Sea World hosts a brilliant fireworks show for their 4th of July celebration. Start your day wandering the park or make your way there as the sun starts to go down. If you want to save money on tickets and don’t want to enter the park, go to South Shores Park is right off Sea World Drive. This park is popular, so if you want a good position, it’s best to arrive early. For those looking for something a little more comfortable, head over to Mission Bay Resort, order a drink and get a seat on the terrace to enjoy the show from a distance.

3. Chula Vista – 9 pm

The fireworks at Chula Vista took a 2-year break due to the pandemic, but they are back on this year! The show is meant to take place around 9 pm from the Chula Vista Elite Athlete Training Center, which can host 5,000 people, but there are plenty of places to have a good view. Mountain Hawk Park opens at 7:30 pm and can host up to 3,000 people, so it is an excellent opportunity for a late dinner picnic to ensure you get a prime position.
